There’s still time to give toward our $30,000 goal from our annual fundraiser.

2016-top5-hottestSometimes I wonder if I talk about sex too much. My kids at home would say, “YES!”

But this year’s TOP5 suggests I may not talk about it enough. For though only 15 of the 52 pieces we published in 2016 were about sexually related topics (that’s 29%), four out of the TOP5 most read in 2016, are about sexually related topics (that’s 80%). (And in 2013 all five of the TOP5 were on sex. One of which, curiously appears again in this year’s TOP5 below.)

But who can blame the interest? Seeing as how our culture considers sex as fun as Disney, as fashionable as France, as epic as Star Wars, and as essential as toilet paper.

In fact, the only other topic that could beat out “sex” to win a spot in our TOP5 was a celebrity divorce.

Do you really have to ask who’s?

NO, silly!

You only need to skip down to #3!

#5: Intercourse: It’s Not Just a City in Pennsylvania

When we dissected the TOP10 dumbest reasons to date, I spent two to three articles analyzing each dumb reason. Until I got to sex.

Then I invested 10 different posts into clearly explaining why God’s wonderful gift of sex is a terrible reason to date. This post is a distillation of that 10-part series.

Speaking of dating though, we have a page dedicated to presenting a vision of dating that you might find inspiring, authentic and meaningful all at the same time.

But back to Intercourse, PA. That piece begins thusly…

dna-intercourseWho would name a blog post: Intercourse: It’s Not Just a City in Pennsylvania?

Who would name a city in Pennsylvania: Intercourse?

I, for one, am just glad to know when Intercourse was actually established: 1754, according to this sign.

Of course that leaves a lot of unanswered questions, like where the population of intercourse came from before intercourse was actually established. But I digress. [Read More]

#4: What Farmers Can Teach Us about Fornication (Sex Part 10)

Speaking of those ten posts on sex, this piece was the 10th in that series. Oh, and by the way the entire series went up over three years ago, so perhaps there is something timeless here.

But you be the judge…

We began this series on sex with the cold, hard, ugly, unpopular Biblical truth about sex, but through the posts that followed I sought to unveil the loving, brilliant, beautiful, protective wisdom that both undergirds and flows from that truth.

To wrap things up, we return to scripture to discover what farmers can teach us about fornication. Specifically I want to talk about seed. After all, a farmer without any seed is just a guy in overalls standing in a field. [Read More]

#3: 6 Reasons Brad & Angelina’s Marriage is Worth Saving

Here it is! The one post in the TOP5 that’s not about sex.

Of course, not all their children were adopted, so it’s clear Brad and Agelina did indeed have sex, but, it was their children (both homegrown and transplanted) and not their sex life which inspired this commentary…

“It was a grand Hollywood romance that made its presence felt far and wide…

Now, with a lawyer’s blandly worded press statement on Tuesday morning, the love story of Angelina Jolie Pitt and Brad Pitt, who were married in 2014, has come to an unhappy end.”

So

But my friends, would you consider joining me in praying that their love story is not yet over?

No, I’m not some super fan of Brad or Angelina. I’ve watched a couple of their movies, but I don’t know them.

But I’ll tell you what I am a fan of: marriage. And because of that here are six reasons why I believe Brad and Angelina’s marriage is worth saving. [Read More]

#2: Tired of Fighting Sexual Temptation?

What if I told you that the secret to winning the battle over sexual temptation is to fight it less? Believe it or don’t, that’s the suggestion of this post. If that sounds intriguing at all, then read on, my friend! Read on!

Here’s how it starts…

Are you weary of fighting your relentless sex drive?

Perhaps you’re tired of trying to keep your dating life pure? Or, more to the point, tired of trying and then failing. And trying and failing. Again and again.

Would you like to fail less?

Or perhaps you aren’t currently dating, but are struggling with sexual fantasy (and porn? and more?). In that case, would you like to equip yourself to win the battle over sexual temptation BEFORE you start dating; ready to walk in consistent freedom instead of constant failure?

Whichever place you find yourself, this is the post for you. [Read More]

Want more practical, Biblical truth to empower you to win the war for sexual purity? We have a Hot Topic page for that too!

#1: Kicking Porn where the Sun Don’t Shine

What do we learn from the fact that our #1 most read post of 2016 is a 2015 article about finding freedom from porn?

Perhaps it means we’ve hit a nerve. That’s why we created an entire Hot Topic page dedicated to porn freedom. So if you (or someone you know) would like some help in slaying this multi-headed beast, check it out!

But first, read our most read post this year, which begins…

dna-kickingAre you tired of your love-hate so-called relationship with porn? You know, the one where you love porn, but have finally discovered it feels nothing for you whatsoever, which then kinda makes you hate porn. And yourself.

If you’re not quite there yet, I encourage you to read this post: Why Porn and I are Never Ever Ever Getting Back Together.

However, if you’re already with me in your sense of fascination and disgust, and you would like to join me in freedom from porn, then this is YOUR POST! Because in this post we’ll share six steps to kicking porn where the sun don’t shine. [Read More]

Lastly, on this #1 topic of porn. It’s actually the #1 topic of Covenant Eyes. And, they offer so many more resources to help you in this area. I hope you’ll check them out! You can start with one of the guest posts I have had the privilege of contributing there.

That’s a wrap for our TOP10 most read posts of the year! (If you missed #10 through #6 click here.)

What do you say?

Do we talk enough about sex? If you check out any or all of our Hot Topic pages, what gaps do you find? If there’s a topic, thought, question or issue you’d like for us to address in this space, suggest it in the comment section below.

OH! And just as helpful, could you share a link to a post on sex, dating or relationships which you have found particularly insightful, either in our Date Night Advice or elsewhere in cyberspace?

We love to know when we’re scratching an itch as much as we love sharing Biblical wisdom from other sources.
